YRock x HKIME: Battle of the Bands

Calling All Young Musicians Aged 13-19
 

This is your chance to step into the spotlight and showcase your musical talent in front of a live audience and industry judges. Whether you’re in a rock band, a pop group, or a jazz trio, we want to hear your sound!

Who Can Apply?
Ages 13-19 years old. Minimum of three band members. Covers and originals are accepted (originals gain extra points). The finalists must perform at least ONE original song in their set.

Who can apply? Do we need to a be YRock students?
No, you DO NOT need to be YRock students. Any students, ages between 13-19, who live in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay area can apply.

 

How many people in a band?

Minimum 3 people in a band, no maximum.

Do we have to be from the same school?

Band members DO NOT need to be from the same school.

What are the dates?

Important dates and info:

  • Submission Deadline - Oct 17 (Results announced by Oct 24)

  • Semi-Finals A - Nov 7 (12-3PM). THE WANCH, Wanchai

  • Semi-Finals B - Nov 14 (12-3PM). THE WANCH, Wanchai

  • Finals - Nov 29 (12-3PM). THE AFTERMATH, Central

Why are there two semi-final dates?

November is a busy month for school trips so we are running two dates just in case of schedule clashes. Semifinalist should choose ONE of the dates.

 

How to apply?

  • Visit www.yrockhk.com/botb

  • Upload an audition video to a shareable link​

  • Fill out the application form

  • Payment HK$300 (per band entry)

  • Submit your application

 

What are the requirements for audition video?

  • ONE song only

  • Can be cover or original*

  • NO EDITS allowed!

  • Video must be under 5mins

  • Ensure good sound quality and camera angle

  • Make sure video link is set to PUBLIC or UNLISTED

 

How many songs do we play? Can we play covers or originals?

  • Audition: 1 song (cover or original)

  • Semi-Finals: 2 songs (audition + 1 more)

  • Finals: 3 songs (semi-finals + 1 more). At least 1 song must be an original

Tip: Originals earn extra points!

When do we find out the results?​

  • Semi Finalists announced by Oct 24​

  • Finalists announced at the end of each Semi-Final.

 

What are the prizes?

Winners get STAGE PERFORMANCE TIME at Clockenflap and

Tom Lee Cash Vouchers
